Start of our Colorado trip

Our trip started out with a stop in Kalamazoo, MI and lunch with Keane. As always it was great to see him. From here we drove as fas as Coralville, Iowa, just outside of Iowa City. A 522 mile stretch. Interesting town history... Farmland lured the first settlers to Coralvill area, but it was the mills that shaped the community. The Mills provided jobs and brought customers often from great distances, and added other businesses. At first the little Mill town was considered part of Iowa City and often referred to as "Down at the Mills". Later it was called Clarksville because Ezekiel Clark owned most of the land in the area. Louis Agassizi, a Harvard zoologist visited Iowa city in 1866, he was so excited about the specimen of fossilized coral he found along the Iowa River that he gave a lecture to Geologists at the University entitled "the Coral Reefs of Iowa City" it was weeks later the community was named Coralville. The Mill itself is now a very nice restaurant called the Iowa River Power Restaurant. Highly recommend it if you are traveling on I-80.
